As of last Tuesday nights (Aug 3rd) council meeting is appears that The City of Guelph is staged to pass a licensing program that will only allow people who own property with legal accessory apartments to only rent to a total of 4 people maximum for the entire house. This is very disturbing to me as an investor who lives in Guelph and owns houses with legal accessory apartments. I have worked hard to maintain these properties so if someone drove by they would not even know they were rental properties as they just appear as a well cared for home.
Any suggestions how as an owner we can stop this! A few owners/investors are already gathering to see what our next steps are.

Hello,
Having attended August 3rd council meeting I was shocked to find that the city may be bringing in licensing to make houses with legal accessory apartments that can only house a maximum of 4 people total. This would dramatically effect the value of the property I own as well as many other investors and landlords. Is this legal?? What options do I have as an owner of houses with legal accessory apartments.
